What Size Windshield Wiper Blades for Mazda CX-5? What Size Windshield Wiper Blades for Mazda CX-5?

Last verified: October 5, 2026

The Mazda CX-5 is one of the best-selling compact SUVs in the U.S., and its long, steeply raked windshield means an undersized blade tends to leave a visible strip uncovered right in the driver's line of sight — more noticeable than on boxier SUVs with flatter glass. Wiper blade sizes on the CX-5 vary by generation, including the rear blade.

This guide covers Mazda CX-5 windshield wiper blade sizes by year, including both front and rear blades, so you can quickly find the right fit for your vehicle. If you’re looking for wiper blade sizes for other vehicles, see our windshield wiper blade size guide by vehicle.

Does the Mazda CX-5 Have a Rear Wiper?

Yes, Mazda CX-5 models include a rear windshield wiper, and it uses a different blade size than the front wipers. Rear blades are typically shorter and designed specifically for the vehicle.

How to Install Wiper Blades on a Mazda CX-5

J-hook (2013–2016):

  1. Lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it locks in the upright service position.

  2. Lift the small release tab on the underside of the blade where it meets the J-hook.

  3. Slide the old blade down and off the arm.

  4. Slide the new blade onto the J-hook until it clicks securely into place.

Push button (2017–2025):

  1. Lift the wiper arm away from the windshield until it locks in the upright service position.

  2. Locate the small release button on the back of the blade, near the connection point.

  3. Press the button and slide the old blade off the arm.

  4. Slide the new blade on until it clicks and locks into place.

In either case, lower the arm slowly afterward, keeping a hand on it so it doesn't snap back against the glass.

Why Correct Wiper Blade Size Matters on the CX-5

Because the CX-5's windshield rake is steeper than average for the segment:

  • An undersized blade leaves a strip uncovered along the top edge, right where headlight glare and highway spray hit hardest

  • Incorrect sizes can cause streaking, chatter, or missed coverage

  • Rear visibility matters most during winter driving and highway spray

Mazda CX-5 Wiper FAQs

Does the CX-5 use the same size for the front and rear blade?
No. The 14" rear blade is significantly shorter than either front blade and uses a different connector entirely.

Did the wiper size change with the 2017 redesign?
No. The wiper size did not change but the adapter style did change from a J-Hook connector to a Push-Button connector.
